Dokuz Eylül University International Family Symposium
“Strong Family, Strong Future”
April 10–11, 2026 | İzmir, Türkiye
The family, as the fundamental unit of society, is undergoing rapid transformation under the influence of multidimensional dynamics, including digitalization, globalization, economic change, and migration. While this transformation gives rise to new needs and challenges related to family structures, it also underscores the need for interdisciplinary, scientific, and collective approaches to strengthen and protect the family institution.
The designation of 2025 as the “Year of the Family” and the years 2026–2035 as the “Decade of Family and Population” by the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye underscores the national importance of this issue and emphasizes the need for coordinated efforts to support and promote family well-being.
Within this framework, Dokuz Eylül University is pleased to organize this symposium, which aims to bring together stakeholders from academia, public institutions, civil society, and professional practice around the theme “Strong Family, Strong Future.” The symposium aims to foster discussion on contemporary family-related challenges, develop evidence-based solutions, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
We invite scholars, experts, and practitioners working in a wide range of disciplines, including sociology, psychology, educational sciences, law, history, theology, social work, health sciences, media, and communication studies, to contribute to the symposium by sharing original academic research and examples of best practices.
Sincerely,
On behalf of the Symposium Organizing Committee
Prof. Dr. Bayram YILMAZ
